Brad Pitt made a surprise appearance at the Golden Globes to present “Moonlight,” which won for best film drama. But the star, whose production company Plan B produced the movie with A24, didn’t stay out to celebrate and headed back home, as he continues an acrimonious divorce battle with Angelina Jolie.
Sources say Pitt didn’t want to party while he and Jolie argue over custody of their six kids. Pitt, 53, and Jolie, 41, have a voluntary temporary custody agreement in place that allows him just one supervised visit with the children a week.
He previously voluntarily agreed to undergo drug and alcohol tests in the hope he’ll eventually be allowed more access to the kids.
A healthy-looking Pitt got a warm and supportive reception from his fellow Hollywood stars at the show.
A source told Page Six of Pitt, an executive producer of “Moonlight”: “He entered the Globes through the backstage and presented the film, and then headed straight back home. He is extremely proud of the film, and wanted to be there to support it, but he didn’t go out.”
Lawyers for Pitt and Jolie are due back in court Jan. 17, if the parties don’t come to an agreement in advance. They just reached a deal to seal the court documents to prevent a further ugly public fight.
Meanwhile, the stars of “Moonlight” hit the party circuit to celebrate, although there was no official bash for their film.
Janelle Monáe and Naomie Harris were seen at the Warner Bros. and InStyle party at the Beverly Hilton, along with guests Viola Davis, John Legend, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara.
